I've decided to create a gothic reading list as a sidebar to this page--so if you have any suggestions, please add them. I'm just going to put up the most obvious first, then others as I think of them. All and any of these texts can be useful so as to consolidate your knowledge of the Gothic genre--remembre, comparison is the tool of the critic!

"Gothic" by Fred Botting is a pretty good introduction to the gothic, though about it rather than fiction. Not one of the expensive ones either.
